Hello All!

Recently I interviewed with Plus Wonderland in Suncheon City. Despite my best efforts, I haven't been able to find anything about this school online. I interviewed with one of the foreign teachers who claimed to have been at the school for 7 years and yet there is no word on this school! Money and accommodation-wise everything seems to be in order except that I cannot find anything about this school. I asked my recruiter to get me an email for another of the foreign teachers but she gave me the email of my interviewer as well as a contract from Wonderland.

I am aware that the Wonderland chain of schools is on a few blacklists as a pretty nasty place to work but this particular school is never mentioned.

Is anyone familiar with this school at all?

I don't know about Suncheon specifically, (never even heard of Suncheon until now...) but I've known a number of people who worked at the local Wonderland who were paid on time and enjoyed it enough. Suncheon is just about the exact same size as the city I live in only significantly further away from Seoul. Be warned, it might be a city of 265'000 on paper, but you will be in the Korean equivalent of the boonies.

Suncheon is easily the most boring city in Korea, if not the world. There is nothing to do.

My major concern isn't really that the area would be boring but that the school has no reputation. It has been a week since I was sent the contract and my recruiter is pushing for an answer.

I would be a first-time teacher and speak no Korean so I do need to have some kind of English speaking population around me.

if you do any research on the forums here you will find that Wonderland as a whole is one of the worst hogwon chains to avoid. Yeah there might be a couple that might be OK given the size of the chain or a new one but given the absolutely horrible the reputation of the rest place it's best that anybody should avoid
