Hello,
I had a question regarding the Korean National Health Insurance. I've been here for a few years now but there's one thing I don't quite understand. If I get medical treatment done that's covered under National Health Insurance, how much of it is divulged to my employer? It's nothing shady but I have to get some more personal things done and I just feel a little awkward if my employer is fully aware of what is happening between my doctor and I. I guess I'm just curious about the level of doctor/patient confidentiality for E2 visa holders in Korea (outside of the mandatory yearly checkup). Any info would be appreciated. |

This may or may not be of help. I got a call from our personnel department a few weeks ago while I was in class. As my Korean isn't the best, she asked me to pass the phone to one of my students. A name came up and I thought she was asking about one of my students from last year. Then, I realized it was the name of the doc that had treated me for a fractured heal early last year. Then she went on to ask about whether I had treatment at another eye clinic. Think she was asking the info for tax reasons. Good thing I wasn't getting therapy for HIV or anything like that... |
