Anyone else hit with nasty allergies these last couple of weeks? I've been here a decade and have never had problems with allergies in spring here before. This year they've been brutal. It's like I have a bad head cold. Anyone else feeling a bit rough? Why is this year so bad for symptoms?

Ultra fine dust may be causing those symptoms. Research links air pollution (secondhand smoke, etc.) with allergies.

I find most people who suffer form allergies are overweight.
Might want to look into dropping a few pounds Smithington. Your nasal passages will thank you for it.

I had allergies back home. When I came to Korea I barely had any symptoms. It happens when you move to a different environment. But over the years it's been getting worse and worse. The last two years I suffered a lot. This year however it's not that bad. In fact I haven't had any problems up untill a few days ago.

And no, I'm not overweight.

I went to the doctor yesterday because of a sore throat that has lasted for a month and mild conjunctivitis that has been going on for two weeks. Two weeks ago, an ENT specialist said the sore throat was probably viral, but the family doctor yesterday said a virus would be self-limiting and would be gone by now. They took some blood yesterday to check it out, but I think it may be an allergy. Last night, I tore down a lot of wallpaper because I knew there was some black mold behind the wallpaper at the door and window. When I started ripping it down, I was surprised by how much mold had grown behind it. I tore down a lot of wallpaper, got rid of the mold, and scrubbed my now-exposed concrete walls with Clorox. I'm hoping this will help. It can't hurt. The half-exposed/half-papered walls make my apartment look like a Beirut apartment during the civil war. My landlady will probably be upset when she finds out about it, but I had to do what I had to do.

I just got here the other day after being abroad for about 2 years and it's been the worst I've experienced in 4 years of previous living in Korea. My normal allergy meds aren't working either.

Qonny, it's ok. You're doing a good job. Keep it up. That's the advice I've been getting about bad students.
