I bought a small order of flavor concentrates ($45) from the USA shipped via USPS /w tracking a month ago. Unfortunately any tracking stops once it leaves the USA. So at this point I am assuming the goods are lost in transit.
The supplier seems to have gone completely silent on this after repeated email notifications. He probably feels he did his part and feels no obligation to do anything else. And I do understand this to a certain degree.
However is there anything I can do short of calling USPS in the States to find out if the order is lost. Would it even be possible to do a "charge back" through my Samsung Master card ? I've heard that credit card companies in Korea aren't near as helpful as they are back in the West. |

Do you have a personal customs number? Seems to be what's needed nowadays. |

I have packages come in every couple of weeks and have yet to have any problem. But you may be right; however, would customs not try to contact me? I'm not sure how this would work. Do you have to put your personal customs number on the package? |

This is not the case. If you have a tracking number for an item shipped via USPS, you can track it using the EMS tracking on Korea Post's website. Click on English, click on EMS Search, enter the tracking number in the tracking number box, then click that little down arrow in the box that has has "EMS item" showing. You will have two other choices:
- International Parcels
- International Registered Item
Search on each of those choices. I've been doing it that way for ten years now and never had a problem. |

Thanks...unfortunately it is saying not found on either of the two items listed.
http://www.stamps.com shows the package being accepted and departing the USPS facility in Miami. |

It could be held at customs are the sender didn't write the address completely right. I've had a package that was off by 1 number on the postal code and they couldn't deliver to me, even though, the name of the city, county, and villa were written correctly. They just held it at the post office without trying to do anything until I called them and asked about the package. |

^This is yet another good reason to quit using the old addressing system. Find out what your home address and your work address are in the new addressing system and use those exclusively. Do not use that pathetic old "system" that preceded it. Supposedly, the last day that anything addressed using only the old system should have been delivered was December 31, 2013.
Here* is all you need to know (in Korean) about it. And the site will translate the old address to the new system for you. AFAIK, both Daum's and Naver's maps will do the same. Another nifty way to see what your address is under the new system is to check the stuff in your mailbox. Anything sent from a government agency or a utility will use the new address system as required by law. Or you can just go outside and look at the address plaque on the building. That thing is written in Hangeul and Romanized Korean.
*The Wiki article on the new address system uses out-of-date information. Use the link I provided for current and correct information. |

Back in '07, saw a couple of blazers I wanted online. Had mom buy them and send them to me. All I got was an empty piece of the original box with the Korean address on it. #facepalm |

Do you need a personal customs clearance number to order stuff off Amazon? I thought I read somewhere that Amazon was exempt from the PCCC. |

I believe in my case (food flavours) it was just the lousy USPS first class - international postal service. And if they lose it they won't take any responsibility unless you have insurance. From now on I'll only send via courier service even if it costs more. |

In all fairness, it could have happened on the American side as well. But my gut tells me that it did not. |
