Does anyone know if a Personal Customs Clearance Code is needed now to order stuff off Amazon? Can't seem to find any info on this anywhere.

I got two books from Amazon delivered without the code no problem. But that was just books.

I asked the staff at my school and they said the passport number is the PCCC, but they might not have had a clue.

I want to buy a Kindle Fire, but I'm concerned about the PCCC issue, especially since I don't have one and have no intention of getting one.

I recently ordered a cable (value about $12) and I got an email from i-parcel asking for my PIN. So, I'd say yes depending on what you order. I doubt you'd need to for books, but for a Kindle? Probably.

PIN as in PCC code, right? Were you not able to use your passport number instead?

Ordered a couple of items recently from Amazon and another website. Used ARC card number for one and Passport number for the other. Both arrived fine. If the website accepts the number and gives you the 'OK' popup, you should be fine as far as I know. If you're ordering something more expensive like a Kindle, you might want to consider sending it insured via Fedex or DHL though as things can and do occasionally 'disappear' from packages. (I had pack of UNO cards stolen from a parcel recently, of all things!!!)

I'm not 100% sure. I had to make the code for another shipment a while back, and I just used the same one. Didn't try to put in my passport or ARC. Here's an excerpt from the email I got:

Quote:
Thank you for purchasing "Designacable Van Damme STARQUAD Neutrik Gold XLR auf XLR Mi" from Amazon EU Sarl. i-Parcel is Amazon EU Sarl's parcel delivery partner and we are eager to get you your delivery as soon as possible.

Due to a Korean regulation that took effect in October 2014, i-parcel is required to obtain your PIN (Personal Identification Number) for customs clearance so that we can clear your parcel appropriately. No additional fees are assessed with fulfilling this requirement and it is used for customs clearance purposes only. To input your PIN, thereby allowing us to export your shipment from the United States and affecting prompt customs clearance, please click here.

If you do not yet have a PIN you can register for one here, and then enter it using the link above.

Please be advised your shipment will not be able to export from the US until we have received the information.

Also, please note the below information regarding your shipment, and duties and taxes:
Duties and taxes are calculated based on the market value (actual price before any promotions) of the product and not the price after Amazon promotions. This allows destination country customs authorities to obtain the accurate import duties and taxes owed to them based on the actual value of the goods.

Thank you for your understanding.

The first link took me to the i-parcel website, and the second one took me here: https://p.customs.go.kr/?portalGoToLink=inform_5&iFrameGoToLink=/StaPt/StaInfoOfferAction_3.do%3fmethod=viewImpCargoProgInfoEach

OK thanks for that. Will have to hold off purchasing until I'm sure on whether I'll need one or not.
