Raw fish, fish markets, etc....
Cool scenery a plus too. |

This is too subjective to speculate about, but Korea is a peninsula, so seafood isn't that scarce. I prefer the East coast or the Southeast, because of the colder, deeper waters. Scenery is in the eye of the beholder, but architecture of historical interest and feminine pulchritude always seem to be sound choices to me. |

Good seafood in Korea? Surely you jest, sir. If you mean raw fish and rubbery boiled spicy mystery soup, that can be had everywhere. |

Ignore the naysayer. Go to Sokcho, go to the waterfront and get yourself something fresh off the boat. I like the squid sausage: 오징어 순대. Grilled mackeral is also pretty great.
There is a decent variety of Korean food that's not the ubiquitous spicy rubbery mystery soup if you care to look for it. Unfortunately, Koreans love their spicy rubbery mystery soup, so it's everywhere and hard to see past. |

Sokcho is good for the markets, but NamHae's food is better |

I'm being mean. Although 70% of Korean seafood is inedible slop, there is some that is ok. Even in Seoul, you can go the seafood market near Icheon\ and get some grilled shrimps. |

I've had very good king crab in a sit on the floor place in Sockcho. I also remember having great mini lobster things in a restaurant on Jeju where they allowed us to drink our own wine. A good white wine is must for seafood as far as I'm concerned. |

I did like the beach near haeundae called songjung beach or the other one to the west (cant remember the name) because both had some great seafood in restaurants if you could prevent yourself from going on the main strip. Loved it plus the view is great. |

Prometheus/ God/Buddha/Allah/Yahweh gave us fire to use it on raw meats! Best fish in Korea is almost anywhere that serves it GRILLED (생성구이)!!! That kind of eliminates most sea-side locations , where it's either raw or spicily boiled.
Korea, sparkling! |

Incheon has good seafood. The fish markets have a restaurant or two inside that serves it up fresh. |

Incheon does have many good seafood opportunities, and there is a place in Incheon I like to go for seafood pancakes and dong dong ju.
But, for the whole package including scenery, if you have a chance to go to Mokpo, go on the road up to Yudal Mountain. There is a strip of restauarants there. At night the view of Mokpo harbor is quite nice. I recall in the middle of a hot Summer night sitting in a restaurant eating haemul pajeon, drinking dong dong ju, and watching the lights and neon signs flashing and glittering far below, and feeling a cool breeze trickle down from the mountain. It is a fine and memorable experience. |

Thanks all, will be in Korea for a short stint in June and want to get a least one seaside feast in. We used to love visiting Busan and frequenting all the little tents down the beach from Haeundae. Last time we were back (2013) was sad to see there weren't many left as most had been replaced by development.
Definitely fond of raw seafood, booze, and good scenery. So I guess it's a toss up between Mokpo and Sokcho. I'll pitch both to the wife and let her decide. We'll be visiting family in Cheong-ju, so it may come down to which is closer. |
