I'm leaving Korea for a couple days after the end of my contract and coming back to hopefully get a d-10 visa. I realize that this may not work(but is has for some), if not I will need to do a visa run. I'm going back to Canada for a couple weeks anyway, but don't want to stay there beyone that. I want to get another job in Korea asap so I can't afford to go through the whole visa process as my home town is nowhere near a Korean consulate. Could take 6 weeks I'm guessing.
So what's the best way of going about this? If I need to come back on tourist visa what documents/copies of documents do I need to bring back to Korea with me? Do all these docs need notarized copies (Canada)? I trust I won't need Korean embassy stamps from Canada as that's pretty much what I'm trying to avoid.
Thank you all! |

If you come over with documents to do a visa run, you need exactly the same documents as you would if you were applying from your home country.
Your employer still has to send the documents to immi to get your visa issuance number. The only difference is instead of applying for the visa at home, you take a trip to Japan (or wherever) and apply at the Korean consulate there.
I think, but Im not 100% sure, that as long as you don't leave Korea for more than 90 days, copies of your documents from immigration will be accepted. Not sure if this applies if your ARC has expired, but you could extend it.
A friend of mine extended her ARC for a month after the end of her contract (fairly straightforward), went home for 3 weeks and came back to Korea before her ARC expired. She then only needed to get copies of her documents for her new job.
Hopefully you'll be able to get a D10 and it won't be an issue. |
