okay, first of all I'll apologize if this is a bit of a rant, but I've had two absolutely horrible experiences with this test so far, which makes me wish I would have done a little more googling and asking before the test.

Long story short I've failed the damn test now despite having driven for the last 20+ years of my life.

First time, I'm with the instructor in the car, I get to the end of the test thinking I did just perfectly fine and I was failed for not putting the damn car in N at the damn intersections. Bullshit I thought, but whatever I scheduled to take it again.

Second time, I get done again, thinking I've aced it and my score was like a 30 with the fucking instructor giggling to himself about not changing lanes properly with some bullshit excuse about me not using the turn signal long enough while looking into the rear view mirrors. Meanwhile kid who went before me that couldn't even operate the car somehow managed to pass with an 80+.

For those of you who have passed this damn thing, what gives? What are the looking for?

Did the whole test in Korean since they had no English service in Chuncheon when I did it back then. Basically, they want you to go by the book on everything, and I mean everything. I made sure I never drove above 45 KPH when driving, I worked really hard to listen to everything I was told to do and remembering to follow all the rules, including the N at intersections thing. I didn't score perfectly but got a 93 on the first and only try. Go back and be sure to read up on everything before you take it again. Having gone through the whole system I did the idiot training on the special road course at the DMV too. It helped me remember a lot of things I had to do on the road test. Good luck.

They will definitely target foreigners on this as they seem to have some kind of 'out to get you' thing going on with people coming in from other countries.

Yeah, did mine in Korean as well, understanding the test isn't difficult, but knowing all the nit-picky bullshit is beyond me. None of it seems to be covered in the videos/guides.

If nothing else was an issue then I would do my best next time to follow their instructions to a "T" no matter how mundane or stupid they seem to be. I remember back when I got my K-license there was a woman sitting in the testing center with me who was there to take the test for the 22nd time. My biggest fear was that eventually she was going to pass. Laughing

That's just it, second time the guy gave me zero instructions throughout the course and just seemed to watch me and the notepad/iPad the entire time.
