It seems like everything's being that's a supplement is being banned by Korean Customs. I'm tired of Korea telling us what we can have when so many of those things are so readily available in North America and much of Western Europe. You can easily get cheap smokes, alcohol, but getting things that are good for you, that's another thing. What gives?! |

Korea has kimchi, snake soju, and rhino boner pills. What else do you expect?
Geez. Some people's children. |

Looks like I can't order Vitamin A and E anymore. Very annoying. I wonder what their reasoning is? |

I remember a health supplements store in Saipan being full of Koreans. Koreans know the products, and they know they're getting ripped off at home. |

It seems as Korea is signing a FTA with every country but then one by one banning the incoming products. No tariffs and taxes, hand shakeee hand shakeee then |

"Free Trade Agreements" are negotiated tariff reductions. They are always limited to a specific number of products as negotiated between the parties. |

What's most frustrating is that the exact same products are available on Korean sites, but at more than double the price. For example, NOW Foods ZMA is $25 on iHerb, 55,000 won on 11st.co.kr (both 180 capsules).
The only explanation I can think of is that the Korean importers lobbied their friends at Customs. |

Canada does the same! You could go online and order from amazon.com as amazon.ca is double, but after the duties and shipping costs from the states, it ends up being even more than if you were to just go with the double prices offered on amazon.ca Yeah, go across the border but those little towns are just waiting for the canucks to go on down south. Ordered something from amazon.com, paid all the duties and shipping, I get it, the items are not in their original boxes, just a plain brown cardboard box, no pictures directions or such look at the sender's address it is shipped to me in Richmond Hill, from a place in Mississauga. And they only called Nixon "Tricky Dick" Might be better off just asking a friend or family member to send your supplements through the mail. |

True but what is the price difference between US and Canada? Not double like it is here.
Also in Canada you can get Omega made from seal oil.

well, it depends on which brand you are after, and they do go double from us to canada. or it is made in canada, but available cheaper in the usa. if you go to a website luckyvitamins.com they have a nice selection of supplements you could order, they used to be able to ship to korea, but i know that they are not shipping to canada. lot's of supplements have been blocked from shipping to canada as well. but try that website out they have an amazing selection.
cheers! |

I kept searching on Iherb for a vitamin E supplement I could order. Order the one that says "Dry E-400". It's made by Now supplements. It banned a lot of the other Vitamin E supplements for some reason, but not that one. I don't know why. |

Free trade is just for companies if they have the right paper work filled out. Ordinary people don't get this benefit. It's actually easier in some ways to order things and have them shipped to here. There's a personal limit of 150,000 won before duties and taxes get piled on. In Canada, I've heard it's 50 or 60 bucks and you still have to pay HST. Folks wonder why things are so expensive in Canada. |

iHerb lists banned supplements (for Korean destinations) made with bovine derived gelatin, making it difficult (if not impossible) to order any liquid based supplements that are gelatin encapsulated. Look for supplements that have vegetable or fish based gelatin - mostly dried powder forms. Several of my usual supplements (i.e., Gamma E, ubiquitol, and Omega 3) from iHerb have been banned recently - really frustrating; I wonder if it's a leftover piece of legislation from concerns related to Mad Cow disease. Supplement prices are ridiculous in Korea which is why the gov't is getting stricter - to keep out reasonable alternatives. |
