|
|
Hi guys,
I'm doing a study as part of my MA and I am looking for help from EFL teachers in Korea to evaluate some accents in a questionnaire I have made.
If any of you could help by filling in the questionnaire I will be very grateful. There are 4 parts - parts 1 and 3 are the longest as they require evaluating accents, but the idea is that they're evaluated as quickly as possible. Bearing this in mind, it should take around 20 mins to complete.
I hope you enjoy the questionnaire and find the time to complete it. Please pass it on to anyone you think may be interested.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Shouldn't you lock this thread before posters reveal answers and make crazy comments and thus skew the ratings/possible comments?=)
Are these Asian speaker accents or native? Perhaps a mix?
Personally, too much attention is put on trying to fix non-native speaker accents. Let's face it. That's the tone they speak their own L1 with. I wouldn't knock them down a rung on a test for any minor infractions.
The school I do my post-bacc work at has an accent-reduction program for L2 speakers but it's in with the speech pathology departments. This is true with many other U.S. universities at least. |

Thanks for your comment! If you take a look at the survey I am sure you will find an answer to your first question
I am not trying to 'fix' non-native accents, nor am I suggesting that they are in need of 'fixing'.
Your final comment about accent reduction is interesting! Exactly what is an 'accent reduction' program and why do they have them? Are they obligatory programs for non-native students?
Hmmm. I've not heard of that before. Worth a closer look.
Thanks. |
