Hi, a newbie here.

I've been searching the FAQ part of the forum but can't seem to find anything on this. I read on a blog that there is a dental check in the initial medical exam that teachers are required to go through at the start of the year. Just how thorough is this exam and how much weight does it bear on the test/outcome?

I know it sounds stupid but I'm getting hung up about this as I have so many damn fillings(6) for someone still relatively young - 28.

If anybody could shed light on this it would be much appreciated!

You're worried about nothing. Let me ease your mind.
Yes! You will have a dental exam, but it's not what you think.

Here's what happened to me (3x) I hope this helps you.

While you are at the hospital getting your full exam, they will tell you to go the dentist. (The dentist is also in the hosptial. His chair/room is usually right next to the International Exam Room- three feet-an in open space) The dentist will look in your mouth and say" OMG!What happened? or "Where are your teeth?" or "Thanks!" and then they will check it off on your form.

Don't worry too much about this UNLESS you have some kind of serious gum disease, or something not so healthy looking, going on in your mouth.

Mattdp87- TRUST ME, YOU"RE GOOD TO GO!!!

Thank you for such a quick reply!

I thought I was probably over worrying about this, but I just wanted to get an idea about what to expect. Thanks again!

Yup. I've done it twice....both times...."Your teeth look very good but you need to get your wisdom teeth out."

"OK"

That's it.
