|
|
I'm finishing up a contract early at the end of July, and I am planning to apply for an F6 visa. My E2 runs until March of next year, but I'm told it will be cancelled on July 31, as I will no longer be working at this school. I hope to have the F6 in hand by September, to be ready for that hiring season.
What is my best option? Are all of these even possible?
1) Apply ASAP with the E2 still valid. This seems to be the best option, but I have a few concerns. What happens if my E2 is cancelled during my application process or I get turned down for the visa for some reason? I would then be here without any visa and possibly forced to leave the country (even to return to Canada) to re-apply.
2) Do the E2 to D10 switch and apply for the F6 with a D10. Problem here is I'm not sure if you can apply on a D10, and I would be unemployed, possibly making the application process harder.
3) Let the E2 expire, leave and come back on a tourist visa, then apply for the F6. Not sure if this is possible, and I would have the same concerns as I would on a D10 regarding employment.
I'm also wondering if it's still possible to apply and receive the visa in Japan. I think Fukuoka is off the table, but can it still be done in Osaka or Tokyo?
I'd prefer to do it the fastest and cheapest way possible.
Any other tips would be appreciated. |

Apply for the marriage visa ASAP. When I applied way back when I still had more than 9 months on my E2 visa. You have to weigh the benefits out and in my opinion the benefits far exceed being stuck on the slave visa that the E2 is. |

I had a similar experience back when I was about to apply for the F6. They made me change to a D10 while I was applying for the F6 visa. It sucks because you will have to pay like 60k won for the D10 transfer just to pay again for the F6, but you don't really have a choice. Your wife/husband will have to do pretty much all of the work in applying for the F6 for you. It took them almost 6 months to issue me the new F6 ARC though, so be ready to wait a while.
While you are on the D10 you can leave Korea and come back without a hassle. I went to America while my application was still being processed. |

When I got the F2 Busan immigration asked for a copy of my work contract. Even with a lot of money in the bank, I think having a job is a big plus.
I'd try to stay employed until you have the F6. |

Maybe but the F6 is all about if the spouse can support you. The F2 focuses on the applicants ability to support themselves.
For example, we had to put all of my money and her mom's money into my wife's bank account to show sufficient funds. |
