I can't seem to find what I am looking for when I searched degree, graduate, etc on search.
I am graduating this summer from a US college with BS Math. I was looking to teach ESL in Korea for a different cultural experience. Since Korean schools start Aug/Sept, I don't want to be missing out on applying for positions that might not be available for me if I got my documents later.
My questions are:
Since there is a lag time on receiving my degree when I graduate this August (which I have to get an apostille and that takes even more time), are there alternatives to proving my imminent degree and verifying it for visa and Korean schools?
Furthermore, I enrolled in a TESOL course in the same time span and was wondering about this also.
I have already done fingerprinting and sent it to FBI for background check and apostille. Currently waiting for the results. |

I'm not trying to be short with you, but the answer is NO.

Nothing will happen until you have your actual parchment in your hot little hand. Immigration wants a certified true copy of the parchment with an apostille affixed to it. NOTHING else will suffice for a visa applicaiton.
Your TESOL is meaningless if you are simply looking for a hagwon job. It is not a legal requirement for a visa.
If you were looking at an EPIK application then they need to see the certificate of completion and confirmation of the duration and F-to-F time.
Since you are going to graduate this summer then as soon as you get your documents in order you can apply for hagwon jobs.
IF you want a public school job then your likely start date is late Feb 2016 and applications will be open in Oct/Nov.

I had this same issue last year. I graduated at the end of June and came to Korea end of July. Go to your University office and ask them. They were able to get a copy of my degree within one week of my graduation, and they also did the notary and apostille service for me (notarized it there and sent it away priority mail to be apostilled). Within about 10 days of my graduation I had all my documents and was able to send them away and got my visa in time.
In short, your university should help you out. |

Also...it should be pointed out that your FBI check is only good for 6 months... |
