I currently live and work in Turkey; I'm contemplating going back to South Korea to teach. I left Korea in August. Would I need to both an FBI check and a Turkish criminal background check? I haven't gone back to the US to live.
And how long is the FBI check taking these days, if I need to do it again?

If you left in August, you're more than three months out. So yes, you'll need another. I don't know how long it's taking these days.

EDIT: I mean another FBI check. I'm pretty sure you don't need one from Turkey. I'm fairly certain I'd seen ttompatz mention the need for another FBI check in spite of not having been back to the US and that a check from a third-party country would not be needed/accepted in some other similar thread.

Good point. I'll message my old friend, Ttompaz. Thanks for that.

Save you the trouble of a PM.

New FBI check = required.
Process is running about 10 weeks for the check and 6-8 weeks for the apostille.

You do NOT need one from Turkey if you plan to return to Korea on an E2.

Doing the visa run to Japan (or taking a 4-day layover on the way back) might be easier than trying to get an actual E2 while in Turkey.
