It happened to me today. It has happened in the past. It surprised me. Today it was pretty strong. Actually I still feel it. It happened mostly when I sat in the Subway Sandwich joint in Itaewon. I thought, hmm, this could be Canada. I've gotten unused to foreigners lately, except for the other one at work whom I don't really like much, and one I talk to one the phone at times, who is an old buddy now. Oh, and I live in YOngin so of course not so many foreigners around. Strange to experience the so-called "reverse" culture shock in Seoul.

Yeah, had the same thing happen to me the first time I went to Itaewon. I even ended up staring at some blonde kids Smile

Ha, I live near Itaewon, and I feel like I'm in LA or something...I actually prefer being the only foreigner around. all the guys at the store say "Three thousand won" and "Thank you"...

I want a good "Sam-chon-won-yo" every once and awhile....

Still have that but not as bad as before since I'm in Seoul more now where originally I was mostly in my tiny town where there are a lot fewer foriegners. I'm sure I'll get a good bit of reverse culture shock the first time I go home.

I was in Itaewon this weekend past. Reverse culture shock not an issue anymore. There are more Koreans in Itaewon than' non-Koreans these days. Though, if you're not careful, the food might catch you off-guard.

Yeah now I get reverse-reverse culture shock in Itaewon, while fondly remembering a time when Itaewon had culture.

By this do you mean the food is mediocre and savagely overpriced?
