|
|
I'm aware of Poly's reputation. If anything can be agreed upon, it is that it will be WORK, which I don't mind provided the work environment is decent.
Soooo...is the work environment decent at this location?
Perhaps it's not likely to be a contract I'll want to renew for a second year because working 9am to 7pm will likely turn me into a zombie if I did it for another year. But it could be good job experience for a first-timer like me?
Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Depends. Reveal a bit more about yourself professionally. For example, describe your credentials, explain "first-timer" (abroad? to the ROK? to the field of TESL? to the workforce in general?), and anything else along those lines. Basically, to quote you:

I have a B.A. in English, I'm in the last 30 days of my TEFL course, I've never taught professionally, I have some experience teaching adult ESL on a voluntary basis, (I'm female, US citizen. Is that relevent?), and I've never been to Korea. |

In that case, it could be good job experience for you. I will let others comment more specifically on Poly's work environment decency. Come back and post in the Sticky a copy of their contract offer for review when you get to that stage of the application process. Good luck! |

This Poly offered me 2.2 mil, but I'm thinking that's low considering the long hours and that another Poly branch had offered me 2.6.

That one was in Daejeon.
At the time I passed on it because I was intimidated by the workload and some terrible reviews lol, but now I've looked into it a little more and I'm like, "Well hell! I should've taken it." |

Live and learn. You will find something and get here eventually. Keep after it. |

I wouldn't work those hours for 2.2 mil.
I've heard Poly is a decent school but you'll be worked hard. |

At a POLY you should be making 2.8 if you are working 9-7 every day. |

That was the case a few years ago, but now the same schools that were paying 2.8 for long hours are now offering less.

It was. (Which is pretty sad considering inflation devalues money.) Keep in mind Poly works people to the bone and even makes them take work home with them (grading). |

At non-franchise locations yes. |
