Just for your information:

I took the newly required written exam to get my driver's license today. I opted to take my chances and not buy the 10,000won book. Good move, because the test (only 20 questions if you already have a license from your home country) is mostly common sense. It was, for the most part, pretty well-written - only a few really strangely worded questions. The tests are held every Thursday at 3:30, and you only need a 60 to pass. I skimmed by with a 70. Surprised

Example? Something about how NOT to get your license revoked: After a list of some pretty horrible offenses (A. killing someone, B. theft, etc) the last option is simply "by driving." Ok, common sense. Some questions on the differences between parking and stopping, chemicals that are harmful for the health/environment, ways to handle paying a traffic fine, passing (in a tunnel? no. on a bridge? no. on a road with 2 lanes both going in the same direction? ok.) Questions on handling an accident, etc. I had never heard of "clearance lights" which came up a number of times on the test. Another point: on one question, you are asked to mark which of the following "ones are not correct." But the examiner said it's a typo, and to only mark one answer on the sheet.

Anyone with a question feel free to post or PM me.

Good luck! Very Happy
