|
|
Hey guys,
I've been a silent reader of this blog for the summer and finally made an account once I started on my application process to teach in South Korea. I'm supposed to submit an English speaking lesson plan for grade 3-6 elementary school children that is longer than 2 pages excluding handouts to EPIK through my recruiter. Any insight for a complete newbie to this world of foreign teaching and teaching general?
My brother is also currently in the hospital and I don't think I'll be able to make my recruiters deadline of tomorrow as this package is quite extensive. Should I let my recruiter know about my brother being sick? I've just been accepted so I don't want to come off as a weak applicant who has too much going on.
Thanks! |

Complete your lesson plan and handouts. Turn it in tomorrow on schedule.
Your brother is in the hospital, not you.
No problem. Glad I could help.

I was about to make the exact same post...
Sorry about your brother! Hope he's okay.
Any tips on style or well-respected samples that may be a good basis?
Thanks! |

I like to think that any situation is a great source of teachable material. How about making a lesson about common excuses for not completing assignments on time? For example, "my dog ate my lesson plan," "my brother is in the hospital," or "I spent too much time online looking for ideas and didn't have enough time to actually do my work."
Or maybe a lesson about what to do at the hospital. Could be useful for any of the students that might be traveling to an English speaking country and encounters an emergency. Teach some phrases like, "I have a bad case of diarrhea," "I am wicked hung-over," or "I'm here to visit my brother, who is having a *beep* enlargement surgery." |
