There was just an ad up for a regular ESL job at SNU, not at the LEI. The pay was around 3 million a month for 12 contact hours. They also provide 600/month for housing, which would cover a two bedroom at the on-campus housing according to the ad.
So maybe not the most lucrative university ESL gig out there, but at least you'll get paid on time and get fully paid breaks (no camps or other non-paid b.s.).
It's definitely not as good at the 'old' SNU ESL jobs before they changed everthing about 10 years ago, but one could do worse I imagine.
One plus is that they hire from overseas, or at least they used to. Now, you can interpret the reason as most of the highly qualified teachers already in Seoul already have better jobs so they're not interested, but, hey, if you're looking to get into Korea, might be an option.
For what it's worth, a buddy of mine worked at the LEI prior to moving Korea University and then to a university job over in Hong Kong. He said that the LEI was better in terms of pay than the regular departmental ESL position. |
