It somehow seems odd to see those words used in conjunction with each other |

Asides from more of a sense of humor, being a bit more left leaning, and pronouncing a few words slightly different, we're not all that different from American culture. We like the same sports, except in a different order of ranking with hockey being number one and football being number two, whereas in America, football is number one, basket ball is two, and it's debatable which is number 3 baseball or hockey. There are more NHL teams in America and some Americans do play for the CFL if they can't get into the NFL. |

A lot of Canadians that I have known have been insistent that we had "less in common than you might think. Don't assume ...". Sure, we have our differences, but we have a lot more in common than some other pairs of nationalities. I can't always just look at or talk to someone and immediately see "Canadian". On the other hand, for both of us, some of our guys are a little too blatant. I'd rather just get along with anybody that wants it too. |

Yeah, yeah. Now that Obama is in his twilight years and Justin Trudeau looks up to the wizened centrist, Canadians are all "yeah our neighbors to the South are alright."
Fair weather friends! I remember how Canadians treated us when we were in the dark hours of George Dubya Bush! |

I am Canadian, but sometimes get annoyed by some fellow Canadians being overly patriotic with an exaggerated twist while abroad. We always grew up hearing how patriotic Americans are, but most Americans I meet here seem the opposite. Canadians are less patriotic while at home and more patriotic while abroad. |

Here's a popular saying about Canadians among Arab Canadians.
Quote: |
Canadians are Americans but friendlier to Arabs. |
Alberta is like an adventure land for Canadian Muslims like me, a born and bred Muslim from Calgary. Good thing that the current mayor is a Shiite Muslim. |
