I completed my contract on good terms. Everything was all fine and dandy as I was tired of working for my previous academy and the long hours and politely rejected them to renewing. My school bought me a ticket to go home. I had planned to go home after traveling for a month or so around Asia. (I have to say goodbye to my vacation and plane ticket).
On my last day Feb. 29th, I got a call from my friend notifying me that she need to basically cancel her contract early due to personal issues and asked if I could take her job. The hours were very attractive. I had always envied her for the job. I accepted her job at the last minute. I moved into the new place the following day March 1st, and began teaching the day after.
With all these surprises and my new director trying to gather all the materials needed for me to transfer visa, I finally got everything I need to run to immigration to do my visa (going tomorrow). I have 14 days right? After the completion of my previous contract.
Questions:
1. Can my previous employer look into my whereabouts and visa status? (I kind don't want them to know I decided to stay in Korea for another year. There are other factors involved.)
2. I'm still okay to transfer E-2 visa right?
I think I'm technically working illegally since I haven't had the chance to transfer my visa yet. Will I get in trouble for this? |

Don't tell immigration you have started working. It is kinda common for Hagwons to have you start now and go to immigration later but you/the school can be fined. Make sure the starting day on your contract is like a week after the date you go to immigration, so if you go to immigration on the 11th make sure your contract says you will start work on something like the 18th. |
