Has anyone ever lived here? I know it's a big city so I'm going to drop a pin to show where I may be situated (where the school is, at least). I know there are good places nearby but wondering about the specific part or Uiwang-reading some stuff saying some parts ore horrible to live in, so does anyone know how this particular location is/would be?

Thanks.

This information is four years old, but that area isn't bad. It's a bit far from the subway (probably about a 20 minute walk), and there isn't a whole lot going on in the immediate vicinity, but you can easily catch a cab or take the bus into Sanbon or Beomgye for entertainment (probably about 10-15 minutes away). There's a good foreigner community in greater Anyang, so it's not too difficult to meet people. Good luck.

I don't live there but often drive through that area.
There is no subway. Gunpo station is the closest but it's not walking distance (3km) which is at least 30-35 minutes.
But there are several buses going to Anyang, Gunpo, Suwon and even Seoul.
It's definitely not a "happening" area. Apartments everywhere with some local restaurants, fried chicken places, realtors and dry cleaners. No foreign food except some fast-food franchises (McDonalds and Dunkin Donuts are a few hundred meters away from the school) No large supermarkets that carry more foreign food. There are mom and pop marts and a few larger supermarkets that have a limited selection of foreign ingredients.
For shopping, entertainment and meeting people you will need to go to either Anyang or Suwon.
Around the school there are only apartments and I doubt you will have a place there as they are large and expensive for a single person so most likely you will be situtated at least a 15 min. walk away.

That's pretty close to my school. I think I sometimes walk through there on my way home. I think it's perfectly fine. It's right next to a mountain (which is why there are no roads to the right of the pin)...so it kind of has a rustic feeling, but you're near the main drag (to the left of your pin) where City Hall and, well...the city is...which has buses that can take you to Gunpo Station or up to Geumjeong Station where Lines 1 and 4 intersect. So, you're not isolated there.

That's from the pin you've put on this map. I presume that's the school. Do you know if your housing would be in the same area? (not asking you to pinpoint your housing for us all to see...but if you have a general idea.)
