Merry Christmas to all.
I'm looking for some opinions on what to do.
I'm 27, Irish male. Two years experience in Korea (one year hagwon and one year elementary school) and one year teaching adults in Sydney.
I have a flight booked to Seoul to arrive on January 20th. The reason I booked the flight was that I wasn't receiving many good offers from recruiters, I was offered jobs far from Seoul or with long hours.
Anyway, I've just been offered a job with Chungdahm April in Nowon. It's 1-9 at 2.2. Housing and 1.0m airfare provided.
I have a feeling this school works it's employees hard with extra classes. The contract doesn't mention public holidays off. When I questioned this, the school said that once or twice a year we have to work on holidays to make up classes.
So what would you do if you were in my position? Take the job and take my chances or fly to Seoul with documents and find something better? I don't want to just take this job for the sake of 1.0m for airfare. I can live without that but I can't live with a dodgy job for a full year.
Thanks for reading the long post and I look forward to your advice. |

You know what you are getting into with April, so it's up to you. I would say it could be worse and could be better. If it's a corporate branch you will always be paid on time and all benefits paid.
If you come without a job, like you said, you lose the 1M on airfare and you will also have to fund your job search (place to stay, food, etc.). There is no guarantee that you will find a better job. |
