I tried using the search function but nothing relevant came up.
Can you only get a D10 visa if you transfer from an E2 or another visa?
I have heard conflicting reports that you can get a D10 if you come over on a tourist visa / entry and bring all your documents over, but some people tell me you can only get one by switching from an E2. |

You can switch from tourist to D10 if you have a relevant PhD.
Otherwise you need to apply for it from abroad (difficult)
or
get an E2 and transfer at the end of your visa (common).

You can apply for a D10 from your home country if you meet the criteria. You either have to A) Be an experienced worker at world best 300 corporations or b)Graduated from world best 200 university (graduate school). Interestingly I did B, however I didn't go to graduate school, I just have a bachelors degree from a top 200 university and was able to get a D10 from Toronto. Check out http://can-toronto.mofa.go.kr/english/am/can-toronto/visa/guideline/index.jsp for more info then click on D10. |
