When did this happen? Granted, information from recruiters should be considered as tabloid journalism, but, ...is this really the norm?
From one recruiting company...that is hiring for CDI.

For the Education offices, a copy that immigration had on file is enough. |

Indeed, that was my suspicion. I suppose CDI has their own special way of doing things... |

Well, the last time CDI had "their own special way of doing things", they lost in court. |

And yet, they still do their own thing. |

I was just going to ask this same question. My recruiter also told me that I need 2 copies of the apostilled FBI check, and 2 apostilled copies of my diploma.
I've taught in Korea before and last time I only needed one of each, I think. I contacted the apostille service I used last time, thinking that surely they wouldn't charge double for 2 copies of the same document. Turns out they do, so it would cost me $252 to get 2 FBI checks apostilled.
If this is the case and I need to provide two apostilled copies of my FBI check, does anyone know a cheaper place to get them apostilled? I don't want to spend $252.
I'm going to have my diploma apostilled in my state, and have my sister do it in person. So it shouldn't be too expensive if I need two copies of that apostilled. |

I ordered two copies of my FBI check through a service in Denver, CO. The first cost $80 and the extra was $9. I ordered them both on a Friday and received them in the mail the following Monday.
An extra copy for yourself, just in case, is the way to go. But, HAVING to provide two reports is not the norm and is not necessary, according to immigration.
If you are applying for a position with CDI, think long and hard about that choice... |

Thanks for that info trueblue. I'm glad only one copy will be necessary. I don't know what CDI is; I just want to work at a hagwon this time. If you're talking about the background check itself, I ordered mine (2 copies for $75) from National Background Check. I meant the apostille service, for which some businesses are charging an arm and a leg. I did find this place for apostilles called US Authentication Services who will get 2 copies apostilled for $110. That's a lot better than the $252 I was quoted by another place.
Actually now that I'm looking it up, just sending your documents to the US Office of Authentications for an apostille is probably the way to go. The processing time is 5-7 business days and it's $8 a document instead of these insane prices. For some reason I was thinking it was like the FBI check situation where it's much faster to go through a channeler because the FBI can take months. But next time I do this I'm just going to send it to the Office of Authentications. |

Try US Legalization...they are cheaper. |
