I am in the US and about to come to Korea and make Kefir here... can I bring kefir grains with me???? I have them dried and frozen. If I put them in my checked bags is that a problem??
I have loads of them and if they are legal to ship I will more than glad to send some in the mail to anyone. Just pay the shipping. I can ship either fresh ones (in milk) or dried ones.
Happy hunting hope you find what you are looking for. |

I brought kefir grains, fresh, in milk, in my checked baggage. Wasn't checked, but shouldn't be a problem. |

Does anyone out there have kombucha here? I'd gladly trade some kefir grains for some. Kefir should be fine to send through the mail, not sure about kombucha. |

I actually won a jar of kombucha culture at that fermentation celebration thing last saturday at craftworks in itaewon. I gave it away cause I didn't know what I'd do with it and this girl was really excited about it all...
Just checked and I didn't pick up a card from the people at the kombucha booth, but maybe call craftworks and see if they can put you in contact with them?
That stuff was pretty tasty. |

I'd be interested in purchasing a culture if anyone's got any babies popping off...
not too familiar with the process, but I'd love to learn!
Trying to figure out how to make my own yogurt as well... apparently super easy. |

I don't know what Kombucha is, but you can definitely buy Kefir.
Go to Exit 7 of Dongdaemun Stadium Station. Angle to the right and follow the street. Start looking down the streets that branch off to the right. On the 2nd or so street, you'll see a building on the right side of the street with a sign that looks like a Russian stacking doll. This is the store you want. You enter on the side of the building and take the stairs up to the 2nd floor. There's a small Russian market there and they sell homemade kefir. You can use the grains in the kefir to make more kefir from your own milk. |

My friend picked up a jar of fermented peanut butter from the Craftworks thing. I'd love to find out where I could get more. It was tasty! |

Vox_Populi, do all the kefir sold in the area have the grains in them?
I tried going to the one you mentioned above today, but they were closed by the time I got there (appox 615), so I checked another mart, but I couldn't tell whether it had the grains in it or not. |
