I am considering going back to South Korea at some point. I know the FBI check is valid for six months. Of course, one has to get degrees apostilled.
How long is an apostille valid for? How long is the FBI check taking? I remember it was taking around 6 weeks. Thanks in advance. |

No idea about the CBC processing time, but as you know it can't be older than 6 months the day it arrives with immigration. The apostille itself doesn't expire, so if you have an old apostilled degree you can use that - I know someone who recently (just arrived in Korea last week) used one which was apostilled in 2012 with no problems. |

An apostille doesn't expire.
Your certified degree copy with apostille doesn't expire.
The FBI check is good for 6 months from date of issue.
6 months + 1 day and you start again.
The time to get the apostille (a month or so) shortens the length of time you will have it in your hands before it expires by about a month (ie: it will only have about 5 months validity left when you get it back from the apostille office).

How's it going? Well, I'm teaching at a university in Istanbul. Before that, I was teaching at a decent university in Korea. So far, I prefer my old university job in Korea. I'm seeing if I can land a better university job in Istanbul. At the same time, I'm going to work on getting my documents apostilled this summer.
I remember all kinds of threads. There have been freaky waygooks, I'm sure. I don't remember that last thread. Many people complain and whinge about Korea, but if you get a university job in Korea, you usually have a decent gig. It's better than working in say Saudi Arabia. And you often can teach and go. You can't do that in all countries.
It's good to know, by the way, that the apostilles don't expire. |
