The requested budget for education was increased 6.1 percent to 56.4 trillion won.

If the birthrate has long been dropping, that'll translate to more spending per student.

Will any of this money make its way to native English teachers?

My predition is NET job cuts will continue. Not because there's not the funds to keep them there, but because they are no longer wanted, generally speaking.

But I could be wrong.

What do you think?

It will mean for starters that the argument of 90% subsidized daycare vs. free school lunches will be less of an issue.(Not gone as they probaby had to hit 12% or so for that to happen) ESL teachers take up a tiny part of an MOE's budget. These two items are what Saenuri and Minju backed local offices have been fighting about with Education budgets fort the last 5 years.
