I sent £90 to the Korean embassy in London cos they told me they only issues E2 visa holders with a single entry visa. It said a 90 day single entry is £90 so that's what I sent. I called them to check and they said they've sent my passport back to me with the payment because it should be £138 not £90 as I am staying in Korea more than 90 days.

They also said I didn't include a E2 check list.

Bottom line is they don't explain properly on the embassy website which visa you need to pay for and what check lists to include. I've got to start all over again tomorrow and send it again with the correct payment and this god dam check list. That#ll cost me another £12 postage and it won't get therr till Friday so it won't be ready till the following Friday and I am supposed to start next Thursday. I told the recruiter what's happened though. Shocked

You remind me of a co-worker I had my first year teaching. She asked more questions than anyone I had ever met, yet she never seemed to learn from any of the answers. She was from Bristol, and had a degree in Art.

I'll admit the process can be challenging, but we're supposedly all adults here. Thousands of people have managed this process before you without difficulty, so it can be done.

My previous co-worker was afraid to get in front of a class and actually teach. She lost her job within 2 weeks and headed back to Bristol and now she cuts hair.

Maybe she learned sense. Hair cutters can get £12 for 15 minutes just cutting hair. Teachers get that per hour. Even I make mistakes sometimes. Cool Cool

This boy will be doing good to get to Korea. He's as lost as a goose in a storm.

It's pretty clear on the website exactly what you need to send and the checklist is downloadable. It also tells you that a single entry visa for more than 90 days is £138. You knew you needed a single entry visa, and that you'd be staying more than 90 days.

But it's just a small hold up so as long as you keep your employer informed everything will be fine.

What's going on here? It says in the visa check list what's the name of your university, what's the name of your degree. dates of study, do you agree to confirm your academic career?

I thought they'd already done that by issuing the visa number in korea? I don't have a problem if they want to confirm my academic career but I thought the visa is definite once you get the visa issuance number.

The visa is only definite when you get your passport back with the visa in it, but at this stage it's pretty much a certainty. The only person I've ever heard of being declined a visa after being issued a VIN had a previous overstay in Korea.

Well the most they can do is call my university administrator and ask him about my diploma and he will just tell them that's it confers the status of a bachelor's degree. So, I guess I should be ok. I still would've thought immigration would've done that though in Korea before issuing the VIN. Seems like they can do it twice if they want to then.

I don't know how easy it is for you to get to London, but at this stage it might be better for you to go in person. Unless you've got everything in the post today (Thursday), they aren't going to start processing it until Monday. That means you won't get it back before Tuesday 19th. Whereas if you go in person on Friday (although I think the applications have to be received by a certain time to be processed that day), you can pick it up the following Friday.

Do you have a flight booked yet?

I just received my passport back with a letter explaining I forgot the E2 check list and it's £138 not £90.

It#s 12:13pm now so it's too late to get to London. I will just send it special delivery again. It will cost another £12 for this. No, they haven't booked my flight yet. They are going to wait until I get the visa. So if they get it tomorrow before 1pm, I should get it back a week on Saturday if I pay for special delivery with Saturday delivery. Then I can fly on a week Sunday or a week Monday. I've told them already and the teachers are leaving on the Saturday I think so it should just be ok.

On the check list it says the following

Number of Certificate for Confirmation of Visa Issuance Issued by the Ministry of Justice in Korea (EPIK Teacher: You May alternatively Submit the Notice of Appointment and Employment Contract

I take it that's just the VIN number then.
