|
|
A few years ago, my phone was stolen in another country. The phone was from Korea. I had left Korea after 1 year with a two year contract. Since my phone was stolen can they rack up roaming charges? I have not been to Korea since but I was issued an E2 visa recently but have not got the ARC yet
I'm worried about charges on the phone and breaking contract. The phone had a passcode to login but who knows all the good that does |

Why didn't you do the honorable thing and cancel your contract before leaving Korea? And yes, if the person finding your phone does a factory reset, then that clears the passcode but leaves the SIM intact. They can then use it at their discretion.
If you had notified your carrier it was stolen, or cancelled your contract and paid the fee, then you wouldn't have to be concerned. It's stuff like this that makes it harder on all expats living here. |

Right....
But since I was issued a visa, then there shouldn't be a problem. And wouldn't the phone company cancel my phone? It was stolen like 2 months after leaving Korea |

So why ask? Seems like you have everything sorted already. |

What makes you think that?
Screwing over a phone company and getting an E2 visa have nothing to do with each other and the phone company can't stop you getting an E2 visa. They can however, stop you getting a phone here until you pay what you owe them. |

I may be way wrong on this, and maybe phone service is different than every other utility....but seems to me that if someone was actually using it but the bill wasn't being paid to someone someplace, service would be terminated.
However if the phone was not completely paid for and there was still a year of remaining equipment charges that were supposed to be paid...you may be asked to pay that back. (as you should if that is the case) |
