I am renewing my contract and due to my current ARC being filled I will need to get a new one. I will be going to immigration on Monday to renew. I, however, will be leaving Korea for 2 weeks in September on vacation. I heard it takes around 3 weeks to get the new card issued which means I would be leaving Korea without an ARC.
What is the best option in this situation? I read somewhere about a registered foreigner certificate. If I apply for this when I am at immigration on Monday will that be enough for getting be back into the country without any problems?
I didn't plan to travel without an ARC but things sort of happened at the last minute and it is unavoidable.
Thanks. |

I lost my purse with my ARC in it shortly before I left for a trip - when I contacted immigration I was told that I would get a piece of paper on the day I applied for my replacement which would cover me until I got the new card and would be accepted at the airport.
I was lucky enough to have my purse returned to me the night before I went to immigration, so I don't know how reliable that info is, but I asked about it on a FB group and got the same info. |

This is still accurate.
The certificate is for those who haven't applied for their ARC yet (usually less than 60 days from their original arrival).
