Hi everybody, looking for a little advice and haven't found anything recent on the forums. "If you know about it a link would be appreciated as well" Smile I just finished my masters in TESOL and two years of university experience in China, now I'm looking to get at least a third year in South Korea. I know hiring season for the spring is just starting but I wonder if I would have a better bet going there in person with my documents closer to hiring season? I'm just not sure how the hiring atmosphere is there at the moment, I'm hoping my previous experience working non uni gigs in Korea might help but I just don't know. Any info would be appreciated, thanks!

If you have your MA diploma in hand, and if you have the requisite 2 years of VERIFIABLE university experience, in your case in China, then you should be able to apply from anywhere.

The non-university experience in Korea can only help, as can a sincere interview response stating that you miss Korea and want to work here again.

Most universities do like to interview in person and hire in-country, though. There's a lot less paper work that needs to be done when transfering a visa as opposed to waiting for someone to get all their ducks in a row. Would help if you had your documents ready to go.

You could then hedge your bets. Try to line up at least a few interviews and agree to fly over for them. Then say you'll need to get back to China to get your affairs in order and you'll need the flight back paid. Whatever works.

There is a LOT of competition for the better jobs, but you have the qualifications so go for it. Never know.

The wording of the OP indicates the master's may be an online degree. What's the current attitude in Korea towards such degrees?

As far as I know, doesn't make a difference. Might be a school or two that discriminates, but they'd be in the minority.
