Three years ago, I left Korea after being here 3 years. I did not have pension or healthcare during the entire. I was on two different E2’s for 3 years. Now, I want to get healthcare. However, my school will not do it. So, I want to go and do it independently – I want the national healthcare. Will I be liable for back payments on pension and healthcare? And will I automatically be enrolled into pension if I get the healthcare myself? I am doing this on my own, since my boss won’t give it to me. |

No to back payments and no to automatic enrollment in pension.

Great!
Will I have any trouble independently doing my healthcare, since it should be my boss?
And what documents should I bring?
Finally, my new ARC arrived just recently, when should I apply for healthcare? I have been here a little over a month. |

Are you employed as an independent contractor? If not, then you should be enrolled by your employer and the deductions made. If so, you should have asked for a higher salary. |

It should be no problem really. I was on an E2 visa for a very short time. Behind the scenes my employer had me listed as an IC ( I was aware).
When I went to get on the national health, they seemed kind of confused why I was on an E2 but registering myself as self insured. I just told them I wanted to pay myself, and that was it. They registered me with little problem and it was done within 10 minutes. |
