I just called Korean immigration. I asked them about getting a new E-2 visa. I've been away for 2 years. A lady I spoke to said that I need a new FBI check, but I don't need to get my diplomas apostilled and verified.
I am going to call the embassy in Houston to ask them if they need it since immigration does not as they have it on record. |

The embassy in Houston don't ever get your apostilled documents, only the VIN and your application. It seems like you got a sensible immigration officer on the phone who knows that the apostille on your degree doesn't expire (unlike your background check, which expires after 6 months or if you've been out of the country for more than 90 days. |

I was surprised that it could be that easy. Korea used to make everything so complicated. Now, do I need a background check from Turkey? I left Korea for Turkey. Or will the FBI check be enough? I also heard that a channeler can get you the CBC within a week instead of 12 weeks. If you go the normal, cheap route you have to wait 12 weeks. |

You need a background check from the US if you're applying for your visa on a US passport. You don't need one from Turkey.
No idea about channellers or processing times though. |
