Hi

I am on an E1 Visa. My passport finally expired and I had to renew by post.

Visit to Immigration needed?

Or sufficient to inform them on my next visa renewal in September?

Visit needed. If you are in the country without a valid passport then you are also without a valid status of sojourn.

By law you are required to report the change of passport and update your file within 2 weeks of receipt of same.

You only have two weeks from the issue date of your new passport not the date you receive it.

This can greatly reduce the time window you have to comply.

Last time I renewed mine the issue date was the same as my application date. By the time I received it I only had a few days to get to immigration.

Thx

I went and had my information updated.

I was worried because actually I renewed my passport back in October so I hadn't complied with the 14 day rule.

Guess I was lucky the relevant officer was not in a bad mood...
