The market has gotten worse in the past five years. And this is true pretty much everywhere in the ESL world, not just Korea. It's a slow, gradual decline that has been going on for decades and continues. Middle East, South America, etc. Less and less saving potential.
Ask someone on a university hiring committee how hard it is to get a job now compared to five years ago.
Things ain't getting better.

Pretty much, yes, yes and yes.
Wages haven't gone up in a long time, prices are going up everywhere and the same can be said in other countries as well. There's a constant chipping away at contracts which seems to be a growing trend. One has to be a bit of a self-starter and get into private tuition rather than just be content with scraps thrown out by public school teaching or the vast majority of private institutions, which are out to line the owner's pockets which is what a business is about. |
