I'm planning on ordering a grammar reference book.

The purpose of the book is for me to have a proper answer and a reference for when my students ask me grammar related questions.

I teach adults btw but a I am looking for a versatile/general type of book.

Suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

I like the Oxford practice grammar series. Murphy's grammar in use isn't bad either. They have good exercises for each unit/topic. Only problem is they don't come in one book but in 3 levels.

If you're looking for writing reference books, I (still) recommend these two. The aren't cheap, but are pretty comprehensive.

If you want only grammar, google it, and you'll fing LOTS. I think it's best for you to go to a bookstore and look at some. Some are too boring. Others may not be a good match with your teaching style or your learners' desires.

I like Diana Hacker's Rules for Writers.
