Hi guys

I got a tax bill from 2012 (yes 2012...). It seems the company I worked for never paid the taxes that they'd taken from my wages.

The tax office isn't very interested. They just want to be paid.

Any advice? Is this a matter for the labour board or the police?

Thanks in advance

Do you have any verifiable proof like bank statements, contracts, and paystubs? If not, it might be an issue. Is so, I'd go back to the tax office first. Is the after school program you worked for still in business?

I have the contract that states they took 3.3% at source. No pay stubs but I'm sure my bank can produce a transaction history. The company is Sc#ool C@re but I don't know if they are still in business.

If I were you, I'd get the bank to print statements from your acct from 2012. Obviously, the amount stated on contract for monthly pay will not match what was deposited. Did/Do you have an issue w pension as well? Anyway, the tax bureau is part of a bureaucracy. They don't want to do much work. Bring the proof to them, and see how they respond. Ensure you keep extra copies for yourself if you have to go elsewhere.

That's some good advice. I'll arm myself with contract and printouts for 2012 and visit the tax office on Tuesday. Thanks for the advice ^^

I worked for school care in 2014 in Seoul. How would I know if tax wasn't paid? I've been doing taxes since without a problem. Any way to easily check my 'status'?

Sure. Stop in at the local tax office. They can give you a detailed report for the last 7 years.
