Hey guys,

Just wondering if you guys dress a certain way even if the school's dress code is super casual. My school's dress code is very casual and I just wear jeans, a t-shirt, and tennis shoes. I don't even worry it and no one says anything, but I'm wondering if maybe I should be worrying about it and maybe put in a bit more effort?

I'd add a polo and casual leather shoes in the least. Still comfy, and you can always wear the same for a date or a night out during the summer. (Disclaimer: I'm over a decade removed from hagwon teaching, and married, so I may not be the best to listen regarding either hagwons or dating)

Keep the casual if you like it that way, and the place has no higher clothing expectations. Put on a suit, not on any special day, twice a year just for fun. Management and students will be impressed. No MORE than twice though! Then, they may expect the same everyday. Sad

It just depends on where you work. What are the Korean teachers wearing? I've only worked at one place that wouldn't allow me to wear jeans. I just had to wear slacks and a collared shirt of any kind. We also had casual Fridays so you could wear jeans. Unless I'm teaching adults, I wouldn't work at a place that made me wear a suit to work. I had one place tell me that I needed to wear a suit to teach kindergarten.....I turned that job offer down needless to say.

Oh yea, and I could wear shorts as long as the shorts were not jeans.
