Hi. I was in South Korea from 2004 to 2006 teaching English. I enjoyed my stay in South Korea but I was very lonely at times. Now that I'm in California again I have two talk line phone numbers that I would like to share for anyone who needs help with loneliness and needs to talk to somebody who speaks English. It's a great way to connect with others and to stay socially active and communicative.
Northern Valley talk line: 1-855-582-5554 (Open 4:30 PM to 9:30 PM California time. Located in Chico, California)
San Francisco warm line: 1-855-845-7415 (Hours vary. Located in San Francisco, California)
I was embarrassed the first time that I called but being I have a mental health issue that inhibits my making friends and having relationships that are easy I have now decided that a talk line is a great way to have social contact and to heal my brain and behavior and thinking and other things. I recommend a talk line to anybody who's interested. Socialization is important for health. I had struggles in Korea when I was by myself too much and I certainly would have benefited from frequent phone calls to English speaking people. I think that both talk lines have specialization with mental illness so if that's your particular situation they can talk to you about that otherwise they welcome anybody to call the talk line.
Enjoy. Have a great time in Korea. |

Or you could talk to somebody in Korea who has some training, preferably a doc, and can possibly make a difference.

Seriously, why pay for a long distance call when you're not sure who you'll be speaking with? They MIGHT specialize in mental illness issues, but, then again, they might not. Not good.
If you simply want to shoot the breeze, how about a co-worker. If you don't have a problem with booze, how about a pub? |
