By "policy-wise" above I meant domestic policy. Regarding foreign policy, borderline-psycho Trump is most likely to trivialize the huge amount of collateral damage that would be caused by a preemptive/preventive nuclear strike on North Korea ...

I love my President.

Stock Market Downturn and Trump's Approval

Quote:
The stock market fell on Monday. A lot. After a roller-coaster day, the Dow Jones industrial average ended down 1,175 points, making for the largest single-day point decline in its history.

. . .

[Trump] has frequently highlighted the stock market — something that President Obama rarely did, by contrast, even though the Dow rose by almost 140 percent during Obama’s two terms in office. If it continues to decline, it will be tough for Trump to dismiss its significance. Nor will he be able to cast doubt on the reliability of the numbers, since the price of a stock is not a government-created statistic and is simply a market price.3

Most presidents avoid talking about the stock market because of its unpredictability and volatility. In an era of algorithmic trading, there’s some relatively minor piece of economic news, and voila! — the Dow can swing by 2,000 points in a few weeks or several hundred points in a day.

Trump has credited himself for stock market gains several times already.

I like it, but you are giving far too much credit to Trump. In reality, he is just an incompetent, stupid, bigoted ignoramus. That's all he is, nothing more.

That's one of the theories, yes.

https://www.lawfareblog.com/seven-theories-case-what-do-we-really-know-about-laffaire-russe-and-what-could-it-all-mean

Quote:
Theory of the Case #1: It’s All a Giant Set of Coincidences and Disconnected Events

Theory of the Case #2: Trump Attracted Russophiles

Theory of the Case #3: The Russian Operation Wasn’t Really About Trump at All

Theory of the Case #4: Russian Intelligence Actively Penetrated the Trump Campaign—But Trump Didn’t Know

Theory of the Case #5: Russian Intelligence Actively Penetrated the Trump Campaign—And Trump Knew or Should Have Known

Theory of the Case #6: Kompromat

Theory of the Case #7: The President of the United States is a Russian Agent

I lean towards theory #6. By the way, Quinnipiac tells us that half of the American public also adopts theory #6. The only polling subset that does not believe theory #6 would appear to be 'Republicans.'

(37. Do you believe that the Russian government has compromising information about President Trump, or don't you believe that the Russian government has hat kind of information about President Trump?)

A little while ago, I read an article that had a good theory. It is similar to #6. Basically it was Trump thinks the Russians have dirt on him, but he isn't sure what they have, and they imply they have something on him, but haven't disclosed it to him or any of his associates.
