Despite the best efforts of some on this board I will finally be arriving in Korea on Tuesday morning.
I'm busy packing stuff that I've already found out are scarce in Korea, but I was just wondering if there were any other last minute purchases I should definitely make before going?
I hope the customs inspectors don't go poking around in my luggage too much because I'm planning on taking a huge supply of Battenburg with me and I'm worried they'll think I'm importing them. Is there anything from the UK that anyone on here would like me to bring over?
I'm worried that I won't know anyone when I arrive over there so does anyone know of any good places to go and meet people (and I like the sound of this summer get-together thing I read on another thread!), or if anyone's interested in meeting up then I promise to buy you a beer (or give you some Battenburg ).
See you on Tuesday, folks!
P.S. Grotto, the invitation is extended to you too. |

Hope all goes well.
No Cornish Pasites here and if you like English blend tea, bring it with you. You can get decent tea (English Breakfast) but it's bloody expensive here.
Customs is rarely a problem, but you never know.
Edit: and instant coffee inhales here. Bring your favourite brand if you drink the stuff.

We're all very excited. I've got all my students making colorful paper-chains ready for you coming.
Seriously, you don't mention where you will be. Seoul? The sticks? |

Until 1914, Battenberg was the name used by the Moutbatten family. It was adopted by the maker of a peculiarly British sponge cake wrapped in some almond stuff (forgotten the name). |

I don't know who it was, but some things from my luggage definitely disappeared. Really strange, random things that I can't imagine someone would have an interest in, like rubber stamps that say WOW and GOOD JOB. They also shredded the zipper track on one suitcase and had to wrap it in plastic and tie it all together with tape. Yeah, it was wonderful.
Bring comfortable work shoes that you can see yourself walking a lot in. You'll be walking a lot. |
