get all your photography equipment in Chungmuro area. Go to Chungmuro exit 5 and walk about 100-150 meters and you will find timephoto the best quality prints I ever had. Turning away from the main road there are tons of shops selling cameras and accessories, I'm sure they have developing stuff, though I'm not sure. |

I used to get into developing; I foiled off my bathroom, had all of the equipment, and all that good stuff, but eventually it just became a hassle. I bought a decent digital camera and never looked back. Just get plenty of memsticks and you don't even have to worry about developing. Being able to use my mad pHot05h0p 5k1LLz is nice also.
Just find a good colorlab to do your prints, and all is well with the world. I love it. |

On my www link below you can find info on the photo places in Daegu. Somewhat closer to Mokpo than Seoul. |

One thing that drove me nuts about Korea was the wide variations in the developing skill of the photo processors. I always thought it was a matter of cranking out prints from a machine, but this machine needs to be calibrated properly.
Maybe it was just my experience, but I had a hell of of a time getting a good set of prints. Just when I thought I found a good processing shop, the guy screwed up again and leeched the color out of the latest set.
Proceed with caution and don't just hand over your film to any old Kim. |

Very true. I took a bunch of pictures back home during Christmas, had a friend get them developed at frickin' Samsung, and they came back with 5 damn photos.

Does anyone know where to rent a dark room for printing Black & White or Color prints? I'm in Seoul, and I want to process the film at home but I'm reluctant to set up a printing lab due to the smell of the chemicals.
Any info appreciated. |

By the way, I went to Chongmuro and had average work at FDI (Fuji Digital Imaging). The shop I went to did ok color work, below average B & W, and other photographers suggested other places next to it for slide processing. They were also overpiced. If you go to FDI, I suggest to have someone Korean drop off and pick up the stuff, as I seemed to get billed extra, and they asked me if I was in the US military (strange, as my hair is a little long for that). Also, I paid more than they told me I would, which was a drag, but I wasn't in the mood to fight it. I just paid and went on.
The contact / proof sheets they make are digital, and they had no frame # information, which is a pain. I may be doing all my B & W by hand, as I get better results that way. Has anyone set up their own dark room in Seoul? I may risk the chemical smell for the convience, quality and cost effectiveness of it all.
Also, does anyone know where I can get polaroid transfer equipment, like a Daylab Pro or something similar? |
