So I've been searching to work at a Summer Camp, and thought I had a great deal. Got it all approved by my boss, etc., and was talking about getting the addition to my E-2 from immigration, which they said they would do for me.
However, as I was discussing more in-depth details about the job, I noticed the director of the summer camp quickly mentioned under her breath something about working Saturdays too!
So they're expecting to find teachers for 2 million won working 6 days a week from 9:30 to 4:30pm. I was about to sign, and was lucky I was paying attention when she spit this out.
The thing that angers me is that this was passed to me by a recruiter whose ad said the hours were Monday thru Friday 9:30 to 4:30.
Needless to say, I'm a little ticked. I told them they'd have to pay me 3.0 million won for the month of work, and to call me today around noon if they decide. They haven't called. I also told them they should make sure the ad mentions Saturdays, but told her that to be honest, she probably wouldn't get any calls for such a poor offer. She agreed as if she already knew that... hmm...
Someone is a lying bastard.
I called the recruiter to complain (Ft. Union) and they said that the ad was originally posted by a "friend", and that they were just helping the friend out. I actually believe this to be true (I got bounced around on the phone a few times), and don't exactly hold them responsible, but I'm still upset about it. |

Which ad should they be honest about? The recruiter's ad? From the way that you described it, the recruiter didn't sound that they had this place well checked out, as it was just a referral from a friend. Sounds like they had one of those phone calls with their friend that goes like, 'Ok, and what's the schedule? and what do they pay? Ok, I'll put it up on our website today. Yeah. Yeah.' I think if the recruiter is peddling the gig, then they should be responsible for not thoroughly qualifying and representing the company.

Maybe so.
Ft. Union did agree with my telling the manager of the camp that I expect at least 3 million, though. The said that the minimum for such hours at a camp is about 2.8 million won.
I think the recruiter just got caught up in someone else's mistake here, but Still, I got the sneaky feeling that this camp has been having difficulty finding people for such low pay, and that they weren't being very forthcoming because of it. |

I am doing a camp right now. The camp hasn't attracted many students, so they are thinking of cancelling it right now and only paying me for what I have done so far. I doubt this will happen, but it just shows to go ya. We need real jobs..... |
