In your experience is this a likely scenario:
Boss, I'm not going to be flying home at the end of my contract, I'll be going elsewhere. Can I have the value of the ticket in cash please.

This will be my situation as well at the end of this contract.
I think i might tell him i great deal on a ticket and just give me the money and I'll book it. So he gives me the money thinking I'm going back to Australia and just put it down on a ticket to Thailand.
I'm interested in past experiences when dealing with this as well. |

It seems to vary from school to school. My school never had a problem with it. In fact, they prefered just giving the cash value to teachers so they didn't have the headache of actually booking and buying a ticket for them. |

our school has also never had a problem with us going somewhere else. i've even noticed they'll even pay a bit more and send us where we want to go. they won't give us cash though....something about them needing invoices for accounting purposes. |

They should go for it.
Make it good for them. Let them give you 75% cash value for the ticket they would have bought. This is what I did.
I was prepared to make them pay for a ticket I wouldn't use, though. |
