sorry if this has been covered already but I couldn't find much by searching.

I have plans to go to thailand for vacation next week and still have only a tourist visa. it's a long story but my degree is still on its way so i might not be able to apply for a visa in enough time to get one while i'm away. I think that I will be mostly likely be not allowed back into korea when I try to return. any thoughts?

also I will at some point need to get my E2, will my leaving and returning jepordize this? any thoughts/advice would be greatly appreciated. i'm sort of freaking out here...

Why do you think you wouldn't be allowed back in?

Back in the day (96, 97, 9Cool I came in and out Korea with a tourist visas all the time. Immigration guys cocked their eyebrows sometimes but I always got back in. However, in 98 I applied for a working visa and they said 'no' -- too many ins and outs stamped in the passport.

Depends on how shifty you look coming through the gate. . .

I've been in and out multitudes of times with no problem but there are a couple of things you should remember:

1. Don't tell them you'll be studying because it's illegal to do unless you have a student visa (although everybody does it anyway, the guy at immigration will cock an eyebrow and tell you not to).
2. On your embarkation card under purpose of visit write down something like visiting friends or getting married (don't give them reasons to ask questions).

Again, I've had no problems having done this multiple times at various points in my Korean life so as long as you don't look devious coming in you'll be okay.

Cheers I really appreciate it, my baby will be born Dec 31st so even leaving him for a few days is going to be quite hard, I can't imagine if I couldn't get back to him, my fiance is going be here, guess I can use that as another reason. Thanks again
