There is some gossip floating around my small school that if enrollment isn't up in the next few months, the school could close down.
What would the fallout be for me? I've only been here 3 mos.
Would i be forced to relocate to another branch in another city?
Could i refuse?
Would my contract be terminated w/o penalty? |

I'm guessing that, odds are, your contract will be cancelled and you could be allowed to find another job here. I can't see them transferring you to another school, unless your boss owns more than one school. Good luck, although that kind of talk could be there just to scare the employees into working harder. |

You'd lose out on severance and a headache added.

No, you could not be forced to relocate. Refuse? Absolutely.

Define penalty.
Just a note, but I am basing my answers on what happened to me in 1997 and have heard nothing different from others since (unless they are twits, and don't know they've an option).

If perchance your school closes, that will void your contract. If your director is ok, they should provide a reference and an LOR. There should be no penalties levied against you and that includes repayment of airfares. You will be able to seek employment elsewhere without any problems. Hope all goes well. |

It's Indonesian for "fried rice". |
