I have some unexpected free time next week. My boss kind of screwed up our schedule and I am left with a week off - but everyone else has to work! What's a girl to do for a week in Korea?

I was thinking of taking a bus from Incheon to Busan and spending a couple of days there, and then a couple of days in Gyeongju before coming back here.

Or - going to Jeju-do for about four or five days, and maybe renting a mountain bike and touring around the island. (I know it isn't that warm there right now, but am long as it is above zero I will be happy biking).

So - if you live in any of the above places - would either of these trips be worth doing alone? Would there be enough to do to keep me occupied? What would you do?

Any advice would be much appreciated! Thank you!

Well, I wouldn't buy any non-refundable tickets just yet, but I would get out of town as soon as possible. Unless there's a part of the story missing I'd be very surprised if they didn't find something for you to do next week...

Jeju is usually pretty rainy in the winter. Are the ski resorts still open? I know the hills are short and the runs small, but that's where I would head.

Wow! A week off in Korea. Well, this is one place where I would rather work than have any days off. Now, if it were Hawaii, it would be radically different. I'm still recovering from the long boredom associated with the Chinese New Year. Damn! I would have preferred to work than sit around the house. I live in big-time small town Korea and don't have the options that people in Seoul do. I didn't want to travel during that time, so I just chilled. Cool No way that I want anymore time off here. For your situation, why not travel to other Asian countries?? C'mon, you want to go to Jeju??? The "Hawaii" of Korea...I've been to Hawaii, trust me, it ain't even in the same ballpark.

Well, I was actually considering visiting a friend in China, but I only have a week off, and it was kind of last minute.....

I've decided not to go to Jeju - I checked the weather and it is 7 degrees right now so I guess there is really not much point!

Come on Wishmaster, there has to be something fun to do for a week in this country, somewhere! I know I don't want to go to your town, wherever it is! Very Happy

if i had lots of money i'd go to japan. i'd go to fukuoka. i've been there twice but only for a few days and with not much money. it is a fabulous city. i had some guide books. i tell ya, if you have a bit of money to do it, you could have a great time there. canal city, the gas museum, underground shopping mall, space world, etc.
also, china wouldn't be hard to do in a week. you can take the ferry from incheon. i'm not sure how long the visa process takes though. i believe it is a little more involved than going to japan.
basically, if i had a week and i had the money i'd leave the country. it's not that korea isn't nice or doesn't have things worth seeing. but it doesn't take a week to see them. i loved kyeong-ju and i recommend everyone go there, but for a day or two. it's a trip you can make on the weekend.
now if i just wanted to party and shop for a week, and not do a big trip, i'd be happy with seoul. i'd buy myself a map and a tourist guide book and head north.
whatever you do, have fun Very Happy

the *beep* in my previous messege was a city in japan that begins with ''f''. i guess it looked enough like another "f" word to get *beeped*. this thing sure is picky.

I don't have lots of money. Sad I've only been here for a month and have only been paid once - I'm not rich yet!

So I think I will go to Gyeongju but only for two days like you said. Is there anything in particular you recommend to do or see?

And I might go to Busan and also visit a friend in Pohang.

To to boreyeoung. I know the mud Festival is over but that doesn't be the beach went away. Its well worth the bus ride and accomindations are right on the beach I mean you literally walk our the door and boom beach. The water is fantastic. I don't know I'm a sucker for the ocean.

Jeju is impossible to book now by plane until sept.
