Anyone get hired at the first round for these sweet part time jobs?

1-4PM at the public schools for 1.5 and visa!

1-6PM and 2.2-2.5

I'm thinking of holding off on accepting a job and trying to get in on the next interviews.

Why would you want to do that?

Teaching 3-4 hours for two million plus housing with small classes is better than doing the same for 1.5 million with large classes.

If housing is included the 1-6 thing doesn't look so bad. Make sure textbooks are provided for the students. Make sure textbooks are provided for the students. Make sure textbooks are provided for the students.

The problem with the part-time position, as I found out, is you won't really be making enough money. After paying for your apartment and food, you don't have much left.

I took it because I wanted more time to study Korean at a university...after one semester, I couldn't afford the next semester.

If you're doing enough privates, I suppose this could work out well, though.

Well that's the idea with the 1-4pm one...my girlfriend wants to go around and hang some signs she made for private study with us team teaching or just with me.

But 1-6PM is pretty good to for 2.25 (minimum) and 250K for housing. That's 2.5 for 5 hours (probably 6 with prep and whatever). Plus with my girl making near 2 at her job Very Happy

Shawn,

Please, do NOT start hanging signs up for private (illegal) classes. Or even ones with your girlfriend's name & contact info, if there's any mention of a native speaker in the ad. There are many other less blatant ways to find students, and why would you want to make the boys from Mokdong's job any easier? I don't care if you've seen hundreds of flyers on lampposts or elevators or supermarkets advertising private lessons by Koreans (who can't be fined & deported). Never put up signs that even hint that a native speaker is part of the deal. Never, never. Never. NEVER.

If I remember right, Shawner's girlfriend is Korean, so I think the signs will be ok as long as the g/f doesn't mention Shawn in print.

funny, I just saw those ads and was just going to ask about the same thing. anyway, seems sweet to only work a few hours and at least know you'll get paid regularly. no housing, but you're already approaching most basic living expenses with 15 hours in. aren't there ways to make random money fairly easily? surely--as shawner mentioned--a Korean colleague/girlfriend can come up with enough connections/opportunities to make up the difference, eh? only need another 1,000,000 won to approach most hagwon renumeration.

I believe they also offer 2.25 and 250K housing on the 1-6PM deal which would be great! I've got an interview next week for both.

Unless you have an F2 in which case you'll only be fined, not deported.

Also why in the world do you think 25,000 an hour is good pay?

At a hagwon 30 hours/week is around 15,000/hour...
