Hi, my name is Alec. I'm currently working in Taiwan. I got a job offer in Korea. My Korean employer asked me to have my diploma notarized in the Korean Embassy in Taiwan (Korean Mission in Taipei). So I called the embassy office and check for the detail. The secretary (or receptionist) told me that they are not authorized to do that in Taiwan. I need to send my diploma to the Korean embassy in Canada to get it notarized, because I graduated in Canada! While I was talking to the operator, she doesn't seem to understand my need at all (very broken English). But I find it rather weird and stupid that I have to send my diploma back to Canada to process it. Cause foreigners in Korea go to Japan or Hong Kong for their visa runs. In my case, I'm like doing a visa run, except that I'm doing it in Taiwan, and I was told I can't do that. Please let me know what I should do. Thank you.

I'm in Taiwan.

I'm currently getting my degree notarized in Australia as I graduated from an Australian university recently.

They cannot authenticate or verify the degree here in Taiwan - I had to send the documents back to Australia to get verified.

What dumb system.

Won't work. It has to be notarized by the Korean consulate closest to the university that awarded the degree. You can use the original if you're ok with that. Next time you're in Canada, get several notarized.

Take your diploma down to the embassy/consulate. Take it up to the immigration/visa department. They will photocopy it for you and certify it! The secretary you talked to doesnt know diddly squat. You can get it notorized at any Korean embassy! As long as you show up with your passport, diploma/degree and the cash they will notorize it. I got an extra copy notorized in Japan when I was doing my visa run. As I am from Canada anyone saying you have to get it done in your home country is full of poo!
